It wasn’t long ago that Penny Randall absolutely dreaded Valentine’s Day. Not only was it one of the most hectic times of the year for her flower shop, but all of those gifts she supplied to her customers only served to remind her that she would not be receiving any romantic Valentines herself.

But today Penny hastily sorts through the nice stack of cards Mr. Twiggleby, the postman, has left in her mailbox. Valentine cards from friends and family and ~ there it is! There is that one special card Penny has been waiting for. It is addressed to Penelope and must surely be from her darling Ray, as he is the only person who still uses her formal name.

That is so like him. While the rest of the world has adopted shorter and shorter abbreviations due to the influx of electronic gadgets and communications, her Ray clings to his old-fashioned ways. Ray moves with a steady determined rhythm ~ much like that of nature unhurriedly progressing from one season to the next. Being a farmer probably has something to do with that.

Penny has let go of girlhood dreams of whirlwind romance and has come to appreciate his approach. From her window she often sees him across the meadow doing his chores and waves occasionally if she can catch his attention. His focus is usually on his task at hand, though he always takes time to show attention to any of the animals that come close for a nuzzle or pat on the head. He lives in the moment and makes the most of each and every one.

Perhaps we all could slow down a bit and make time
for more of that kind of romance in our lives . . .

Pennyis made from pure white cashmere mini bear fabric.
Her tail is white satin cording and she measures just over 3 inches to the top of her head.
She is wearing her deep pink dotted dress that has white lace trim at the hem.
Black seed bead button adorn the wrists and front bodice under an white ultrasuede collar.
Her shawl is a piece of intricate heart lace and is removeable.
She is also wearing whitelace trimmed pantaloons.
Her shoes have golden ringed black bead buttons.

She will bring her mailbox, shawl and Valentine cards with her.
The mailbox and teeny tiny cards were made by me.
