It is hands down one of Dorcas’ favorite days of the year. Last night she and her husband Rolf took their children to the Christmas Tree Farm to cut down the one that would stand in their home this holiday season. This has been one of their family’s traditions ever since Nadine had been a very small girl. It was so nice that she was home from University in time to tag along this year. The number of times the four of them will be able to do this are surely dwindling, as soon Nadine will be moving on with her own life, but Dorcas is trying not to think about that too much today.
Oh no! She totally forgot about the candy canes! Dorcas quickly disguises the look of panic that had swept across her face, searching for an explanation to offer the child.
"Oh, Mother," adds Nadine with a giggle. "You really need to start writing these things down." |
Dorcas is made from tan cashmere mini bear fabric.
Her tail is black waxed cording and she measures just over 3 inches to the top of her head.
She is wearing a red and white cotton dress that has been lavishly trimmed in
white snowball braid at the hem, shoulders and at her wrists.
A tiny white bow is on the back of her waist.
She is also wearing lace trimmed pantaloons.
She will bring a candy cane,
her cup of cocoa with attached saucer,
(did you see the marshmallows?)
and her decorated tree with tiny
twinkle lights and hand beaded tree skirt.
The lights on the tree have three settings and
will come with a spare set of battteries.
