No. 39 in the Cobblestone Circle Series
Henri’s sister Josette had come from her home in Paris for a month long visit. She and Muffy had become instant friends ~ and Muffy thought Aunt Josette was just about the most exciting person she had ever met! Although her parents are themselves very knowledgeable, talented and well respected in the fashion world, to Muffy they are just the owners of the humdrum dress shop in Cobblestone Circle. But Aunt Josette lives in Paris!
Muffy loved everything about her aunt. They spent hours and hours together in Muffy’s room talking about fashion design and fabrics. So it was quite natural that Muffy had chosen the names Chiffon & Charmeuse for the two tiny dogs Aunt Josette had brought for her. She was surprised that the little purse was for the dogs ~ no one in Cobblestone Circle had anything as chic as a pocket dog!
After hearing all the stories from Aunt Josette about the designers Muffy read about in the huge stack of fashion magazines next to her bed ~ well, that just made her even more sure that what she wants most in the world is to live in Paris and become a great designer herself.
But Aunt Josette left this morning on the train to begin her journey back home ~ and none of Muffy’s arguments, pleadings or tears had persuaded her parents to let her accompany her aunt. They promised she could go for a visit on her 16th birthday ~ but that is 8 months away! How can they possibly expect her to survive until then ~ trapped here in Cobblestone Circle where every day is more boring than the next!
Parents can be so unreasonable . . . .
