Eleanor Thistlewhitte
No. 3 in the Cobblestone Circle Series

It’s been 8 years today since Eleanor opened her shop The Needle Works in the Village Market.   She never in her wildest dreams saw herself as a shopkeeper, but once her beloved William passed on, her children convinced her that she needed to do something to keep active and involved.   Brian, her youngest, had suggested she take the secretarial job at Gregory Brewster’s Law Firm.   Can you imagine!   Sitting at a computer all day?   This shop was a much better idea ~ surrounded by familiar things she loves and doing things she likes to do.   The location is perfect ~ allowing all the village women to stop in with wee bits of gossip.

Now that she thinks about it ~ there may have been juicier stories resulting from the cases at the law firm.   But when it comes right down to it, Eleanor has lived her life as one of the ’good girls’ ~ better to keep the gossip of the fun and friendly sort.

~ SOLD ~
December 2006

Eleanor is wearing one of her everyday cotton dresses ~ the one with the purple flowers that reminds her of the day William gave her that enchanting nosegay of violets he picked in their back yard. She misses those silly romantic things he used to do for her. She has her reading glasses on a chain around her neck ~ unfortuantely her eyesight is not what it once was and she needs to wear them when she’s cross stitching on 28ct fabric (that’s 28 stitches per inch!) Her basket is crocheted from raffia and contains her scissors and 3 spools of thread from her latest project.
