Clara Kittiebittle
No. 12 in the Cobblestone Circle Series

Clara Kittiebittle enjoys her walk to work every day.   It still makes her smile to think about her new job and her new house in this marvelous new town.   She moved to Cobblestone Circle 7 months ago and began teaching 1st grade in September.   She especially enjoyed the notion that both she and her students had their first day at this school together.

Today she will have to forego her favorite route past the giant oak tree(the oldest tree in Cobblestone Circle she has been told), through the village park, round the fountain and past the library to school.   The recent warm spring rains and the resulting mud force her to take the more sensible sidewalks this morning.   But there are advantages to that route too.   She can already smell the muffins Mrs. O’Dooley has made for her guests’ breakfasts.   If she times it just right sometimes Mrs. O’Dooley scurries out and treats her to a muffin too.   What a great place to live!

Clara is made of a soft gray cashmere and is wearing a cotton dress that can only be described as Irish green.   The black wooden easel has a silver-toned chain and decorative accents on the front legs.   It holds a purchased chalkboard.   Clara comes with her 1 inch tall shiny school bell that actually rings and 4 composition notebooks (¾ inches high by ¾ inches wide).   The books are constructed in the classic fashion of hand-sewn pages and a glued cover resulting in a sturdy binding.   Inside the books you can see that the students have been practicing their alphabet and wrote a sentence saying why they like school.   As it is with all children, each of these 4 notebooks contain a different reason for liking school. And of course ~ every teacher needs an apple!
