Betsy Wallace
No. 28 in the Cobblestone Circle Series
Betsy Wallace is supposed to be dusting the
bookshelves in the Anthropology section of
The Book Cellar. But instead she’s hiding
from her husband Luke in the back aisle of their
bookstore ~ he seldom comes back by the
reference books. She chuckles that
after all these years he still thinks it takes her
3 hours to do the dusting!
The truth is that Betsy spends most of those
3 hours reading. Sometimes she reads about
the far off places she wants to visit with
Luke ~ other times she studies the latest trends in
home décor. There are days she tries to get a better
understanding of the figures on the world stage
by reading their biographies ~ and other days
she needs the comfort of revisiting books from
her youth. But nothing’s more fun
than just picking a book at random and discovering
the surprises it holds ~ except for the fun of
introducing people to her favorite books.
Betsy peeks over the top of the bookshelves to
be sure she isn’t needed by a customer and then
settles into the big leather chair with her selection
for today. She just needs to careful and listen
for the oven timer in the coffee corner.
Yesterday she was so engrossed in a novel
about time travel and highlanders
that she almost burned the biscotti!
